Many high school students in the United States and the rest of the world are curious and or passionate about the humanities and social sciences. A number of such students are carrying out inquiry-based research on topics that delve deep into our origin, society, evolution and culture, as well as the influence of humanities on science and technology and how the humanities continually shape our future. The high school classroom curriculum provides students with few opportunities to share their ideas and findings. There are very few number of stimulating forums outside of school where innovative minds can converge to have insightful discussions, interact with experts, and gain inspiration to further their interests in these disciplines.
The INSPIRE student group at MIT therefore decided to organize and host this national level competition exclusively for high school students.
